About Mathew Patterson
If I was the answer to a "Who Am I?" on a gameshow, the question might go like this:
Born in 1977 in the southern suburbs of Sydney, I was a nerd from an early age, particularly after the introduction of the "Dick Smith Wizzard" to the house. I attended local schools, played local sports, and avoided the local wildlife as much as possible.
After highschool, in a fit of undirected course-choosing, I entered an IT degree, where I first had internet access, and immediately began using the web for its true purpose, finding out what that one guy in 'Office Space' was doing now.
Marrying a lovely physiotherapist, I wheedled my way into web design in my first job out of University, and ended up working on web sites large and small in Australia and the UK, before changing tack slightly to become Community Manager for Freshview, a software company in Sydney.
With a first name containing only one 't' I am...
Mathew Patterson
Of course, 'Sale of the Century' is unlikely to be adding that question any time soon, but it is good to be prepared (that's what the cub scouts claim, but then again, they also claim 'Dib, dib dib, dob dob dob', so their accuracy is questionable). As well as finding my trails all over the web in different forums, blog posts, photos and social software, I've spoken at a conference and attended many others.

Using the web for business is fascinating to me, and it's the kind of thing I also think about when I'm not being paid, a key indicator that I am doing the right thing. In 2008 I plan to speak at another conference, learn some new skills and, all going well, purchase some new gadgets!
Much More Mathew
